"Whom Shall I Fear? "

What does it look like to face real fear without being consumed by it? In this message drawn from Psalm 27, we are invited into one of the most honest and courageous prayers in all of Scripture. David is not writing from a place of comfort and safety. He is surrounded by enemies, slandered by false witnesses, and pressed on every side. And yet he opens with a declaration that stops fear in its tracks. The Hebrew word translated as stronghold or refuge, ma'uz, carries a dual meaning that changes everything: God is not merely a source of strength we can draw from, He is Himself the fortress we run into. There is a profound difference between asking God to hand us something and running to God as the unshakable shelter Himself. We explore what it means to name our fears honestly while simultaneously naming God as greater than every one of them. Faith, we discover, is not the denial of reality. It is the refusal to let threatening circumstances grow larger in our imagination than God is in our faith. This is a message for anyone who has ever lain awake at night wondering what comes next.
